OUR STORY

Southeast Multicultural Providers Association (SEMPA) was founded by a collective group of multicultural, community-based behavioral health agencies. Each organization experienced similar systematic barriers impacting the delivery and access to equitable, culturally responsive behavioral health care and education. Believing in the power of collaboration, SEMPA agencies united with a shared mission to create pathways to care and to eliminate barriers faced by our clients and agencies. SEMPA formalized a partnership grounded in shared experiences and shared purpose. The association was created to provide a unified platform for identifying common challenges, developing coordinated action agendas, and implementing solutions that reduce barriers to care. Members envisioned that, by uniting under one umbrella, SEMPA would strengthen advocacy efforts, streamline resource sharing, and amplify our collective voice in shaping state policies and programs. Through collaboration, the association aims to expand access to culturally sensitive behavioral health services and education to improve outcomes for historically underserved community members.

VISION

SEMPA envisions a future where providers of color across Southeast Massachusetts work together to eliminate long-standing barriers and stigma surrounding mental health and substance use, expand equitable access to exceptional behavioral health, and empower individuals and families to lead fulfilling lives.
